Summary:
Essel performed a subsurface environmental investigation on three adjacent parcels located in San Francisco, California. The purpose of the investigation was to evaluate potential contaminant concentrations in the soil and to preliminarily characterize the soil to aid in future decisions relating to excavation and off-site disposal. The scope of work included drilling ten borings at a depth of up to 30ft in locations spaced across the three properties; collecting soil samples from the borings; and analyzing the soil samples for a range of petroleum hydrocarbon compounds, petroleum- and solvent-related volatile organic compounds (VOCs), semi-volatile organic compounds (SVOCs), polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs), and a number of metal and metalloid elements. Essel also conducted hazardous materials surveys and provided abatement planning and oversight.
